About Us
I am Kristy Adams, (formerly Duello), a third generation Cairn Terrier breeder. My grandmother, Norma Abel, owned and operated Abel's Country Aire Kennel in Foristell, Missouri. She stared our line of Cairn Terriers 50 years ago. My grandmother got her first Cairn for my mother, Janet, to start showing in 4-H. Grandma continued to improve and develop our outstanding bloodline of Cairns over the years. Her number one goal was to produce happy, healthy, well-socialized puppies that possessed the AKC's conformation standards.
My mother had Cairns all her life. When I was born, my mother had a Cairn named Holly. She was very patient with me. As soon as I started crawling, I would pull her around by her tail. Mom bred Holly every once in awhile, mainly to have puppies around from time to time for my sister, Tiffany, and myself to play with. We loved having the pups around, and enjoyed helping mom take care of them. We would play house with the puppies (they would be our babies,) dress them up, and give them rides in our doll's strollers. I was very sad when Holly retired from breeding, and we did not have the pups around anymore. Luckily shortly after her retirement, grandma gave me my first Cairn, Bubbles, when I was 8 years old. I got started training and showing in 4-H with Bubbles, and with lots of help from my mom and grandma, I started breeding Bubbles. My sister got her first Cairn, Buffy (Bubbles' sister,) at the same time. I fell in love with raising their puppies, and of course our favorite part was still playing with them. Over the years, I continued showing my dogs in 4-H, and only had a couple of breeding females. When my grandmother retired, I took over her Cairn bloodline entirely. I have the same values as my grandmother when it comes to our Cairn line, and strive to continue producing happy, healthy, well-socialized puppies that possess the AKC's conformation standards. I am now a show registered breeder. However, I only show at a few local AKC and IABCA (International/European style) Conformation shows each year. I also compete with our dogs in Barnhunt trials as well. I am a member of the The Cairn Terrier Club of America. |
